REI Teams with OvR to Learn to Ride/Ski

OvR & REI SoHo have a lot in common… We both love the outdoors, we both love winter sports & and we both love bringing new people to the mountain to experience snowboarding and skiing for the first time.

A Message from Guest blogger Laura about how REI SoHo can help you make this the year you learn!

Hello OvRriders and happy winter to you. The REI Outdoor School is excited to announce a new class for the 2013 season: Learn to Ski and Snowboard. Learning these new sports can be daunting sometimes. When it comes to choosing a mountain, buying lift tickets, getting the right rentals, or just figuring out where to get lunch, learning to ski or ride tends to be feel like a whole new world. REI will take the mystery out of the first trip to the mountain.

For you that know how to ski and ride, I applaud you for your dedication to winter sports! However, if you have a friend or family member who would like to join you on the mountain this winter, send them our way!

This 2-part class includes an in store component where we’ll cover what to wear, what to bring, the flow of the day, and even fit participants for rentals. For part 2, we’ll meet back at REI and hop on the bus to either Camelback Resort or Windham Mountain. An REI concierge will walk participants through rentals, lessons, lunch, and free time on the mountain.

This class costs $150 for REI Co-Op members and $170 for non-members (become an REI member for a one time fee of $20 at rei.com/membership!). The class includes:

  • the in store lecture
  • transportation to and from the mountain
  • lift ticket
  • rentals
  • lessons
  • a $10 voucher for lunch!
