After rocking the Austrian Alps the past few winters, we learned a few things. The mountains are beautiful, the powder is world class, and the aprés party is second to none! For winter 2020, we’re heading BACK TO THE AUSTRIAN ALPS!!! It’s become a staple and a can’t miss on our annual calendar. You’re not going to want to miss OvRride Austria when we head across the Atlantic for a week of the proper European mountain culture experience.
Austria is home to epic ski conditions, loads of long runs, glorious mountain peaks, and world renowned Apres-Ski. Sölden Resort, one of the stops on the Ski World Cup circuit, is quickly becoming Europe’s hot spot location, with access to glacier skiing, 150 km of ski trails, and a youthful nightlife that is the perfect complement to a day crushing tons of fresh powder. During one year’s trip, the resort played host to Daniel Craig, James Bond movie, Spectre… Look out for some OvRride crew in the background!!!
Come join us for this EPIC European Excursion!!! Get to the Austrian Alps… Good times are actually guaranteed on this one!
While in Sölden, we’ll be staying mountain side, centrally located so we can start our day anywhere on the resort we choose. Our hotel is chock full of Austrian allure, a wellness spa, and a short walking distance to bars, restaurants, and lifts to the top of the mountain. The restaurant in our hotel where breakfasts and dinners (all included) never disappoints, but there are also plenty of options if you’d like to venture off and check a new spot.
Going back to the days of there first Austrian skiers, Sölden was a remote farming village. These days you’ll find a wealth of experience in giving our guests exactly what they need and want: plenty of snow, majestic mountains over 3,000 metres (do the math Americans), and more lifts and pistes than even ambitious skiers could hope to cover in a week. Guests to Sölden can look forward to plenty of fun, action and entertainment away from the slopes. We often recommend this trip even for those looking for good times in fresh mountain air, with beginner chops, or even those who don’t plan to hit the slopes at all.
It’s ski/mountain culture at it’s most refined, if by refined you mean the most fun you’ll ever have on the mountain!
Discover Munich, Germany
Since we always pull out all the stops, our trip will also roll through Munich, Germany for a day and night in one of Europe’s most happening cities. We’ll tour through the beautiful city, rich in Bavarian culture and pride, settle into a comfy local accommodation, then head out for the nightlife. Get ready for lederhosen, foot stomping, accordion jamming good times in one of Deutschland’s world famous beer gardens. Care to challenge yourself and take down… DAS BOOT?
Take in the architecture and history of this amazing Bavarian City! Maybe even run into a Bavarian?
Beer drinkers can rejoice with a PROST in the world famous Hofbräuhaus. Not a beer drinker, the traditional music, dance and flavor will perk your taste buds!
Hofbräuhaus is a symbol of Munich’s hospitality and the Bavarian gift for creating a snug and cosy atmosphere. Beer-lovers, and culture adventurers from all over the world come here to enjoy the epitome of Bavarian Culture.
At the turn of the century the Hofbräuhaus turned into the most famous tavern in the world. They take their beer as serious as their culture. Beer at the Hofbräuhaus is brewed in accordance with the Bavarian purity law. This brewing regulation which was enacted in 1516 was the world`s first food law and is still valid today. More than any other, Hofbräu is said to embody the special atmosphere of the beer-making capital of Munich.
It won’t take long to feel the history when you walk inside the building. It’s a great place to connect to the local culture and trade stories of what’s to come in there mountains, or unwind at the end of our trip to talk tales of the good times we’re leaving behind for the next crew to appreciate.

Traditional Alpine Night “Sledging”
There’s no doubt one of the highlights of our trips in the Alps is getting out for their traditional night sledding experience. Since the aprés scene and nightlife in Austria is top notch the night sledding experience is a total party!!! We’ll get picked up in “off-road vehicles” one night at the hotel, after hitting the mountain, and transported out to the local night sledding slope.
Music, drinks, and extreme Austrian merriment ensues up at the remote alpine lodge at the top of the sled track! Just when the party hits reaches it’s pinnacle… IT’S ON! Head out to the track and jump on a classic wooden toboggan and rock down the sledging track!!! No experience required and everyone can run the course at their own speed, which can be pretty nuts if you SEND IT like some of our crew did last year!
There is simply no way to decribe how fun this is… you just have to be there!
Sundeck at Ice Q (James Bond) Restaurant
Of course the beer in Austria is world famous, but the world class wine is often overlooked. Taste the local varietal, Zweigelt, from the top of resort! It will turn you into a fan of Austrian wines. Then there’s the Riesling from neighboring Germany, oh… and there’s those French and Italian wines from the Alps bordering countries… yeah, they’re pretty good too! There’s no better place to enjoy a glass of viño then a bluebird day on the sundeck at Sølden!!!
When the sun comes out, you’ll have to head over to Ice Q to take in a meal or at the very least, enjoy a glass of Austria’s finest wine with unbeatable views of the Alps!
The AQUA DOME Thermal Spa
Austria is known worldwide for their spa and sauna. There’s no trip to the Austrian Alps without taking in some of the best in health and wellness.

AQUA DOME – TWO MAN ENTER… TWO MAN LEAVE… VERY VERY RELAXED!
THE MAIN EVENT – AUSTRIAN ALPS ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!
There is so much going on at Sölden to separate it from other resorts, but let’s be clear, it’s still the EPIC MOUNTAIN itself that remains the main attraction. No matter your level from beginner to straight up mountaineer, they have something for everyone. The varied, snow-sure slope offers it all, including glacier skiing, state-of-the-art mountain lifts, long well groomed runs in the sun, off-piste above the tree line bowls, tree runs, powder stashes, natural halfpipes… yea, just about everything you could ever want at any level.
