The Latest on What the OvR Ladies Have Been Up To & Where We’re Going
October. Time to put on a light jacket. Beginning to feel the stoke of the change in season. Winter is on our minds. Kelly Clark came to town and posted up for a few hours at DUMBO Sky, sharing her journey from Vermonter to Olympic half-pipe champion. As the audience sipped wine, Steve from STOKED interviewed Kelly, asking about her growth as a strong female athlete, and the Kelly Clark Foundation, her means of giving back to the community. We got excited listening to her share her life experiences, and even more stoked when she talked about the support of her fellow female riders, despite being the competition. The air felt just a little cooler and crisper that night, snow on the brain.
November. A sudden winter chill comes blasting into the Northeast. With the help of warm, gooey sliders from The Meatball Shop, Peligroso tequila, Burton Flagship NYC’s annual “Girls Night Out” brought the community together, chatting snow, checking out the latest gear, and hearing from Burton’s own Kimmy Fasani. Kimmy talked about the honor of having her own full part in Burton Presents webisodes, showing off her face and skill in the backcountry. As another leader in women’s progression, Kimmy was the first to land a double backflip a few years back, inspiring us by showing that women can progress and move the sport forward without competing in a half pipe. In addition to talking to Kimmy and stuffing our face with cupcakes, we saw old friends, made new ones, and of course, left with the traditional souvenir of the GNO photo booth. We are officially ready to spend time on the hill with our girls.
December!!!!! Mountains are open, first days out at Killington have been had. After hearing from the pros, sorting through our gear, remembering how to layer right, it’s our turn now to take over the mountain. The ladies of OvR are ready to get together and SHRED. We are excited winter is HERE, the season is on!
